Understanding MultiChoice SA Socio-economic transformation continued DStv Schools Netball Challenge The DStv Schools Netball Challenge (DSNC) is a platform geared towards the development of young female athletes who play netball at secondary schools across South Africa. In 2022, players and coaches from over 20 schools in the Ubuntu stream of the DSNC bene ted from a two-day coaching clinic hosted by some of the best netball minds in the country. In total, nine coaching clinics were conducted in nine provinces. These clinics, helped the players prepare for the national nals and build their con dence through mentoring from professional players. The 2022 season of the DSNC culminated on Women’s Day with kwaZakhele High School and C&N Sekondêre Meisieskool Oranje winning the titles in the Ubuntu and Botho divisions respectively. Over 26 000 girls took part in the tournament, which makes it one of the largest school sports events of calendar year 2022. PSL Player Transition Programme PSL and MultiChoice launched the PSL Player Transition Programme in January 2022. The programme focuses on PSL players aged between 28 and 35 years and aims to equip and empower them with skills to nd careers off the eld after they retire. The programme is run by the Gordon Institute of Business Science. In November 2022, 27 PSL players graduated from the MultiChoice PSL Player Transition Programme. ˆ˨ˣerˆˣort ˆc˛ools ˣlaˬin˚ fiel˗s The SuperSport Schools playing elds project aims to increase access to state-of-the-art sporting facilities for disadvantaged schools and communities across South Africa. The playing elds can be used for ve different sports: hockey, 5-a-side soccer, tennis, volleyball and netball. SuperSport has been building multipurpose sports elds in schools across South Africa. By giving disadvantaged schools and communities access to state-of-the-art sporting facilities, SuperSport encourages children to participate in healthy activities. This provides much-needed social and physical stimulation, which positively impacts their overall wellness. To date, we have installed multipurpose sports elds at 44 schools, with 129 000 children participating in weekly sports programmes on these sports elds.
